TUSCAN WATER DISTRICT, IN BLACK, IS A TROJAN HORSE FOR OUTSIDE INTERESTS TO SEIZE OUR GROUNDWATER.

BUTTE LAFCO

Butte LAFCo holds meetings on the first Thursday of each month. Its online agenda  (posted a few days ahead of time) is required to state whether it will contemplate another TWD election.

During the public comment period, by email or by phone (see below), tell them that their request to the Board of Supervisors for a new Tuscan Water District election must:

–Specify that only persons who hold title to land in the proposed district can vote;

–Specify that votes must be allocated based on the assessed value of land held, not acreage;

–Specify that establishing the District must be voted on separately from assessing extra property taxes - not in the same question;

–State that two-thirds of the votes cast must favor formation in order for the District to be formed.

Back to TAKE ACTION

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

We oppose the formation of the Tuscan Water District and demand that Butte County officials step up to their responsibilities under State law. The groundwater belongs to the public and must be managed transparently by publicly elected authorities - not privatized as a "water bank."
